AUSTIN—U.S. Representative Michael Burgess, R-Lewisville, made the following statement Monday regarding his endorsement of Ted Cruz for U.S. Senate:

“I’m proud to endorse Ted Cruz for Senate. Our nation is facing a fiscal and economic crisis, and now is the time for people to speak with a clear conservative voice in Washington. When I first ran for Congress, I had spent nearly three decades practicing medicine in North Texas. In Congress, I discovered very few elected officials willing to rock the boat, to make the hard decisions we need to turn our nation around. Ted Cruz is that strong, proven conservative leader, a constitutional scholar, and a fighter through and through. He’ll lead the fight to stop the Obama agenda, and I look forward to fighting alongside Ted to repeal every word of ObamaCare. I urge North Texas conservatives to rally behind Ted Cruz in the runoff, so Texas can lead the fight to restore the Constitution.”
